Welcome to the National Fathers’ Resource Center (NFCR) website.  Please take a moment to read this brief introduction so that you and your children (or grandchildren) can benefit as much as possible from your visit today and in the future.  NFRC is a division of Fathers For Equal Rights, Inc. (FER), located in Dallas, Texas, with offices in both Dallas and Fort Worth. We are one of the largest and most active fathers’ rights organizations in the U.S. FER is a 30 year old, not-for-profit education and civil rights organization, recognized as a 501 (c) (3) organization by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. (So, if you want to make a charitable contribution, it may qualify for a tax deduction!) We receive no government grants of any kind, so we depend primarily upon walk-in and online members for our revenue. While we usually have one or two attorneys on our Board of Directors, we are not controlled or managed by lawyers. We are dads, just like you.  Our NFRC website, which you are looking at, is our effort to assist fathers, children, and families beyond our walk-in offices in Dallas and Fort Worth. Through the Internet we can now share our knowledge and empower fathers around the corner and around the world.  Our website has evolved over time. This is our third revision in the past 12 years. Those of you who have visited our website before will immediately notice major improvements and enhancements, all designed to be more helpful to those dads who are in the middle of family court litigation or who need information to protect themselves and their children.

The vision of Fathers for Equal Rights, Inc. is that society will recognize the right of every child to have a healthy relationship with both parents,regardless of the status of their family structure. This website is setup for you to enjoy many articles and presentations at your leisure and at no cost to you. New articles and updated changes in the law are posted on a regular basis. Fathers for Equal Rights

Being a father is a lot more than being a part creator of the child. Being a father means having the ability to teach, nurture and grow with and assist a child. A father does not need to do that solely during a visitation schedule alone. A father can have a significant input in the health, education, religious training, and all other decision-making aspects of the child’s life. In many cases, the father may be the better parent for that child. In those cases, the father must petition the court for full custody. Full custody is not something that should be taken lightly or thrown around in court. It is a serious, expensive undertaking with severe results, whether successful or not. Both litigants will be put absolutely through the ringer, be forced to spend a small fortune, all the while hurting the child. It is always best if the parents can agree to cooperate. Typically, the mother is a physical custodial parent who has the day-to-day operations over the child. It’s not that much to ask, to have that party cooperate with the non-physical custodial party on important decisions like health, education, and religion. After all, the child is the child of both parties. There are two parents to this child. It only makes sense that each parent should have a say in the important decisions affecting the child’s life. Parties should not need the court to teach them that. The parties should not have to go to mediation to be taught that. Parties should have enough common sense and decency to understand that the child they have is their child together. Absent a circumstance where one party is a danger to the child, or absolutely unfit for certain reasons, I believe each party should have an equal say in the health, education, religious training, and all other aspects important in that child’s life.
